The transition to automated control: what about the human factor?
Description
Many quality controls in industry are still carried out by operators, either because there is no process available for automatic control, or because the cost of automatic control makes it difficult to amortize. However, technological developments, particularly in vision, image processing and artificial intelligence, are gradually making it possible to carry out complex controls by human intervention. Whereas the human being is highly flexible and can integrate contextual notions (history of defects, new/old production, particular point to be monitored, etc.), and thus adapt the inspection operation, the machine reproduces ad infinitum what it has been programmed to do.
Experiences of automation in control will be described, as well as the difficulties of implementation. Based on these experiences, recommendations will be drawn up to facilitate the transition to control automation.
